So, your destiny is set, you've found your true love and now it's just a case of creating your special day!
Last month we designed and coordinated a conceptual shoot based on inspiration from the mystic arts.
As soon as I discovered Elmley Nature reserve it conjured up a really barren and eerie yet natural and honest feel.
I like to create shoots that have a concept to carry them through and magic was something that I had not seen in a wedding shoot before. The idea of potions, casting spells, summoning a groom was accentuated with the use of purples and blacks, crystals and amethyst. Victoria’s Aviary designed us some tattoos inspired by amethyst and the symbol of the third eye.
Rock the Frock Bridal supplied 2 dresses, one from Lorie X that worked perfectly for the innocent, groom seeking bride and one from Velvet Johnstone which was used for the spell scenes as we moved into dusk and created a slightly darker, more provocative bride.
Rock Crystals and chocolate jewels in ring boxes as favours added a unique touch and carried across the concept to the table-scape where the rich purples and plums contrasted so luxuriously with the green of the foliage table runner.
All suppliers worked to a creative brief supplied by myself and they truly helped this shoot to deliver some rich, original imagery around a relatively new concept in the wedding field. I am extremely happy with the result.” Jenny, Bellaboo and Beau
‘With such a rich brief, I wanted to capture images with an artistic approach, using light and shade to enhance the mystical feeling. The rustic and moody landscape at Elmley meant I could use elements that natured delivered, with a breeze for movement in the attire and hair and capture darker images at dusk.’ Rebecca Douglas, Rebecca Douglas Photography
“The naked cake was filled with blueberry jam and decorated with dark coloured fruit and berries to mirror the magical and mysterious feel of this shoot. “ Lau, French Made
“I created chocolate gems in dark jewel tones - the gold leaf adds another layer of luxury. They conjure up an air of mysticism and magic, ideal for this wonderful conceptual shoot/an alternative wedding.” Laura, Mello Mallo
“I loved being involved in something so creative and bespoke as that’s what Zenzero is about. A concept that is reliant on the magical and mystic world of performers I was proud to have contributed to and to help encourage brides to involve some performance aspects to make their even more special.” Hannah, Zenzero Events
“I wanted to make the red haired model quite romantic, period style.
I used hair pads to create a foundation on which to build the hair up and to lay the waves onto. Underneath hair was backcombed and pinned to the pads and the waved hair placed and pinned over the top.The waves were created using a cone shaped waving iron and set with hairspray.
For the flame throwers hair, I enhanced her natural curl with a gel product. I used texturing powder in the roots to create grip and volume. “ Liz, Simply Beautiful Wedding Hair
