My concept for the day was one of warm textures and rich tones. It was all about wools, warmth, pheasant feathers and festive cheer, but, with a clashing element of pink! Bringing rural Rye into the wedding, the groom and the best man were kitted out in a tweed and herringbone ensemble from local tailors WJ Bennett. The bride and groom are a real couple and they have quite a quirky look, with Ted having a big bushy beard and Britainy having pink hair. Britainy's dress is from Kent based The Story of My Dress and is a short vintage '50s number.
There was lots of clever reflection work and light-trickery from Rebecca Douglas, and we made use of all the sparkly christmas lights that currently line the windows through the town. We were also pretty blessed to have had an amazing sky and sunset on the day!
The result of this shoot, I feel, is one that encapsulates the magic of Rye at christmas and brings with it some images that resemble the old classic 'It's a Wonderful Life'. Personally, having lived in Rye most of my life, it was nice to be reminded of it's beauty and magic and see it for what it is, a very romantic town, especially at christmas.
